New release; Strawberries at Wimbledon (Short Story) #LoveLondon Book 5

Hello my lovelies!

This release was delayed for a few weeks due to some unexpected circumstances, but I can still hardly believe it’s time for the fifth – and last – short story in the #LoveLondon series to be released. Hopefully readers will think it was worth the wait and that the full length novel, Picnics in Hyde Park, due out towards the end of June, is a fitting end to the series πŸ™‚

I really enjoyed writing this story because it deals with first love; a subject I find fascinating. Was it really love or just infatuation? Was it really as good as you remember or have the years created hazy, fond memories masking the reality of what was just an okay relationship ? Can you ever rekindle what you had back then?

I also liked writing this because it’s set in the summer and I’m a real sun worshipper (I do not do well in winter) and can quite often be found enjoying a Pimms in the back garden when the sun is out! I must confess to two things though that are not as true to life; I have never been to university, nor have I been to Wimbledon. So, I spent a lot of time researching both and hope I did a good job. It’s no coincidence that I picked Loughborough uni for the setting for Adam and Rayne’s initial romance; I’d been offered a place on the English degree course there when the universe decided to take my life in another direction πŸ™‚ I’ve thought about going to uni as a mature student a few times over the years, for the educational and cultural experience, but instead I got a post-graduate level HR qualification and pursued dreams of publication, and am very happy I did. As for Wimbledon, I’ll get there some day!

Here’s the full blurb for Strawberries at Wimbledon;

The one that got away?

Sipping Pimms and eating fresh strawberries at Wimbledon are the perfect start to the British summer for Rayne. Immersed in her career as a journalist in the City, she’s been too busy and distracted to give men – or other outside interests – much of a chance lately. That’s something her friend Lily thinks she should correct, coming up with the perfect β€˜sex with an ex’ solution – much to the amusement of the crowd on Centre Court!

When Rayne runs into old flame Adam, former good guy who is now all grown up with a hint of bad boy about him, it’s a tempting thought. But is that such a good idea, when she knows that four years ago, she broke his heart?

Back from travelling the world and settling into running the family business, Adam never expected to see his university girlfriend again. And he definitely didn’t think he would still be angry with her for running away, or that she would still have the same stunning effect on him. But she does, so maybe the perfect way to get her out of his dreams and from under his skin, is to have a hot sex-filled night with her? The only trouble is, one night might not be enough…

First love – can you ever go back?

    Happy publication day! I’ve had to update my Amazon payment before they’d deliver my copy – someone messed with my credit card and I have had to have a new one. (PITA) πŸ™‚ x

      Thank you – I can’t take any credit for the covers (Steve Panton is a design genius) but I love every single one of them.

      I also have a towering TBR pile, and wish I could read and/or write all day!

      Take care, Nikki x
